This course in Acting is for students who would like to learn about acting in a fun environment. Learn how to lift a script off the page and bringing it to life on the stage! You will overcome your inhibitions of performing in front of others, learn the basics of becoming a character in a play, hone the acting chops which you may have already developed years ago, and rehearse scenes for performance in one of our black box studios in front of a gentle audience. You’re never too old to become a star! Prerequisites: A wish for adventure! No other experience or training is required!

Mastering the Human Figure - All levels

In this 8-session course, students will familiarize themselves with the 3D structure of the human figure starting with skeleton studies and followed by 6 sessions of figure drawing combined with sketching. Academic drawing and sketching are fundamental for the development of a successful drawing technique and an excellent way of gaining hand control over the line and honing fine motor skills. Eye training and ability to catch movement, proportions, and composition all at once will be practiced through the sketching exercises. Want to learn to paint, or are you stuck in a rut? This course is designed for both beginners as well as students with experience. We will explore simplifying a photograph through various options: the use of a limited palette, different sizes of canvas, how to feel and observe nature. We will also be working on spontaneity, seeing light, turning a dull photo into an exciting painting. There is so much to explore in art that returning students will be constantly challenged and new students at the intro/inter level will find that there is lots to try and learn. The instructor will demonstrate starting, working through problems, and finishing off paintings. Gingerbread House Workshop

SAC - GPS - Gingerbread House
Two participants for 1 price can come and create a beautiful handbuilt pottery Gingerbread House. You and a friend, you and your child, or you and your partner will build the gingerbread house together using clay slabs during this 3 hour workshop. Both participants will use handbuilding techniques such as coils and carving to embellish your unique house. Once the house is constructed and decorated participants will use under-glaze to paint the house. Our technicians will take care of firing the house in our kilns. Your gingerbread house will be ready 3 weeks after the workshop for you to pick up.

The “Lise Roy Memorial Family Workshops” is a series of workshops open to the public, free of charge, to those who have not yet experienced the joy of pottery. It is Lise and Don Roy’s gift and wish to extend the reach of the arts to all. If you haven’t had the opportunity to enjoy the craft of pottery with your children, please sign up. One Night on the Wheel

Have you wanted to try making pottery on the wheel? Here is your opportunity to enjoy one evening discovering the art of throwing clay. During this 2 hour workshop you will learn to throw one small pot. After the workshop our technicians will trim and fire your piece and it will be ready for you to pick up in 2 weeks. GPS courses
This course is an introductory wheel course. Class duration 2.5 hours for six consecutive weeks.  The student will cover the basic techniques for the beginner. You will first learn the art of centering the clay which will allow you make different pot shapes. Trimming a foot onto a pot and surface decoration is covered. Recylced clay included. No prerequisite is required.

This course is aimed at students who have completed Level 1 and wish to advance, but still require more guidance from the instructor for the full 2 1/2 hour class. The class will progress towards more advanced forms including covered forms, bowls, and closed-in forms. One bag of clay included. Prerequisite: Be able to consistently center and throw a cylinder as high as it is wide. Please bring an apron or an old towel to protect your clothes.

Throwing Graceful Forms

In this workshop Paula Murray will demonstrate the process of making soft-shouldered round vases and elegant flaring chattered bowls. Students will practice the right time to push and stretch the clay to make large closed forms. How to make a chattered bowls without slumping. How to get the most out of your use of ribs. Stretch your throwing skills under her guidance. Expect to take home several forms for you trim.

Many materials can be used but we have chosen linoleum; a soft and inexpensive material that produces high quality prints. This print class introduces students to intaglio and planographic printmaking techniques including drypoint on plexiglass, collograph, and polyester plate lithography. Expanding their repertoire of printmaking techniques, artists will continue to explore of their own imagery through the versatility of print. Use of soya based inks mainly, which clean up with soap and water. Basic tools and materials are provided. Bring visual source material, ie: drawings or photos, as inspiration and think about what you might want to achieve.

Wood Carving - Introduction/Intermidiate

The properties of wood and the use of carving tools will be taught to create three lovely dimensional pieces of art.  All students are free to choose their projects and explore their creativity. Precious Metal Clay: Rings Only - Introduction

This class is for ring enthusiasts; you will work with Precious Metal Clay and create two rings. What is Precious Metal Clay? It was developed in the early 1990s in Japan. The material consists of microscopic particles of pure silver and a water-soluble, non-toxic, organic binder that burns off during firing leaving behind a 99.9% pure silver piece. You will learn dry construction, carving, enameling, designing with scratch foam and several other techniques to create both rings. Each ring will be kiln fired.
Participants will complete two projects from start to finish:
- Ring with Torch Fired enamels
- Ring with Cubic Zirconia Setting

All materials included. All technical and project information provided.
